ELMAN W. CAMPBELL MUSEUM
The 2025 Asian Harmony Festival Art Exhibition is proudly hosted at the Elman W. Campbell Museum in the heart of historic downtown Newmarket. Housed in the former North York Registry Office — a landmark dating to 1884 and designated under the Ontario Heritage Act — this storied space is dedicated to preserving and sharing the diverse stories that shape Newmarket's community across time.
Its commitment to celebrating culture, heritage, and immigration makes it the perfect home for this journey through 5,000 years of Chinese civilization and the living traditions of today's local Asian community.

LIVE CALLIGRAPHY DEMONSTRATION — A BRUSHSTROKE OF GOOD FORTUNE
Witness the timeless art of Chinese calligraphy come alive as our master calligrapher takes brush in hand to craft words of blessing and good wishes — right before your eyes.
In Chinese culture, calligraphy is more than art; it is a heartfelt expression passed from one person to another. Each stroke carries centuries of tradition, flowing with intention, grace, and meaning. Watching the ink meet paper is itself a moment of wonder.
Visitors are warmly invited to receive a personally brushed character as a gift — a blessing to carry home and a reminder of the harmony and goodwill that unite us all.

WALK AMONG CENTURIES
Ancient artifacts. Rare finds. Objects that have survived centuries to tell their stories here. Browse the exhibition at your own pace or join a guided tour to uncover the history behind each carefully preserved piece. Every object you encounter is a window into a civilization that has shaped the world.

WHERE STORIES FIND EACH OTHER
Some of the richest conversations happen in places like this. A familiar object triggers a memory. A guided story sparks a question. A stranger becomes someone you share something with. The Asian Harmony Art Exhibition is as much about the people in the room as the artifacts on display — a place where knowledge is passed on, curiosity is welcomed, and culture lives not just behind glass, but between people.

WHERE TWO WORLDS OF HISTORY MEET
The Elman W. Campbell Museum has long preserved the stories of North American pioneers and Indigenous peoples — its walls holding the tools and memories of those who shaped this community across generations.
Among its collection, visitors can discover artifacts from immigrant life a century ago, including the yoke — a wooden collar once fitted around the necks of oxen and horses, a quiet symbol of the toil that built this land.
Today, for the very first time, Chinese cultural treasures make their debut within these historic walls — bridging continents, centuries, and communities in one unforgettable space.
